Procedure

Your dentist will first ensure that veneers are the best treatment to meet your goals and your needs during a consultation. X-rays may be taken of your teeth, as well as impressions. To begin the procedure, your teeth will be shaved down slightly (about 1/2 a millimeter of enamel will be removed) to create sufficient room for the veneers to fit. Your dentist will then make an impression of the prepared teeth and send this information to a dental laboratory where the veneers will be created. You will have temporary veneers placed onto the prepared teeth at the end of this first visit. They will keep the teeth protected until the veneers have been completed.

About two to four weeks later, when the veneers have come back from the dental lab, you will return to our office in Spring Valley, NY to have them bonded permanently to the prepared teeth. Your dentist can check the fit before attaching them by placing them on the teeth first. Adjustments can be made as needed to ensure that the veneers fit with your bite. A special cement will be used to attach the veneers. A special light beam will be applied to the veneers to activate the chemicals in the cement and cause it to harden, creating a secure bond. Excess cement will be removed at the end of your appointment at Main Street Dental Care to complete the treatment.
